Text Manipulation Tricks I Use Every Week
Most text tasks do not justify a script, but doing them by hand is slow and error-prone. Online text tools handle the middle ground. Here is what I use weekly. I process a lot of text in my work: cleaning up exports, reformatting data, preparing content for publication. Most of these tasks do not justify a script, but doing them by hand in a text editor is slow and error-prone. Online text tools handle the middle ground. Here are the ones I use weekly and how I use them. Case Conversion Saves Me from Retyping I get data in the wrong case constantly. Database column names in snake_case that need to become camelCase for code. Titles in all caps that need proper capitalization. Constant values in lowercase that need UPPER_CASE. Doing these conversions by eye works for ten lines and fails for a hundred. A case converter handles any length instantly. I keep a case converter bookmarked and use it several times a day. The time saved per use is small, maybe thirty seconds, but it adds up. More importantly, the conversion is always correct. Manual retyping introduces typos that cause bugs I do not catch until runtime. More tutorials are on the KitCraft Blog.
